Do you remember when the BRIT Awards were fun? Where government ministers went in fear ...

Jake is a social professional network for gay men and women.
Most of us will hold the Jake card which you can purchase on the website soon. This gives access to our events for free for you and one guest (unless stated otherwise on the diary or listing). We hold networking, informal and lifestyle events in some of the world’s best bars, clubs and private spaces. We often open up venues that are closed to the outside world and/or invite you to enjoy places which have a waiting list or membership fee that precludes easy access.
Jake members network in the real world of course but come together through our Facebook Fan Page and blog. To meet the others, sign in using your Facebook ID and join our Fan Page through the Facebook links on our website. If you use Twitter add us at Twitter.com/JakeMembers and if you prefer your news by email or on the site, so be it- the options are there.
First notifications of events, offers and news are always made on our Fan Page, miss it and you might miss out.
Q&A
Do I have to pay to take part?
-Yes probably. Although anyone can join our Fan Page of course (and should!), the events are charged unless you buy a Jake Card. Real world relationships are more valuable than digital ones. There, we said it.
Do I have to be gay to take part?
-No. Be what you want to be.
Do I have to be a professional to take part?
-Yes. Although we mean it in the widest sense. Some street entertainers are very professional. Some lawyers are not.
Where do I chat to the other members?
-On our Facebook Fan Page and at events.
Didn’t you have some clever community technology?
-Yes, but we binned it. The first version was great but too slow when we grew. The second version sucked. Facebook’s better.
Who is Jake?
-It was named after a horse. Long story. Basically Jake is the name we give to a lifestyle, hence the TM (a trademarked lifestyle).
What happens at Jake events?
-Like-minded folk (nice people, creative people, entrepreneurs, professionals, drunks) gather for a mix of social and professional networking. Come along, you’ll get it very quickly. It’s very welcoming and you’d like it if you tried it. Jake was the original “other gay lifestyle” to hit the headlines ten years ago, the one where you didn’t have to flash your nipples to start a conversation. Not all the time, anyway.
How many of you are there?
-We think there are around 10,000 active Jake-people. We’re not sure. Several hundred come to events.
How do I ask a question?
-Pop on the Facebook Fan Page, we’ll chat to you there or email info@JakeTM.com.
Who run’s the show?
-Jake was invented by Ivan Massow and Alex Sass in 2001 (ish), they’ve had lots and lots of help since, check out the Facebook wall.
